5 Gallon and 55 Gallon Composite Tight Head Steel Drums – Poly Liners with a Steel Overpack

Why would you need either a 5 gallon or 55 gallon composite drum?  Most likely the main reason would be that your product might not do well in unlined pails or in steel pails that have baked on linings.  Corrosive products would be one example.  A word on baked on linings can be found on this page.  Perhaps you need either an X rated drum or a Y rated drum.  Our 5 gallon drum has a UN designation of UN6HA1/Y1.8/100 and our 55 gallon drum has a UN designation of UN6HA1/X1.6/300.  An explanation of these ratings can be found below:

UN = United Nations

6 = Composite Receptacle

H = Plastic (Inner Container)

A = Steel (Outer Container)

1 = Tight Head Drum

X = May be used for Packing Groups I, II and III

Y – May be used for Packing Groups II and III

1.8 (5 gallon) 1.6 (55 gallon) – Maximum specific gravity the container has been tested to hold for 5 minutes

100 (5 gallon) 300 (55 Gallon) – Maximum hydrostatic pressure the container has been tested to hold for 5 minutes

5 Gallon Steel Composite Drum

5 Gallon Polyethylene 2U Black Steel Round 0.5mm 24 GA Insert 1/8 Vent in Body Item: SPO0005CS2L001 UN Rating: 6HA1/Y1.8/100 Opening: Open Head Pack: 36 This black steel pail is a composite pail with a plastic liner. The liners are produced separately from the pail and hand assembled. The pail takes a Rieke Flexspout (sold separately) which must be attached with a special crimping tool. The pail comes with a dust cap which is removed and the pail is then filled. When the Flexspout is applied, it seals the liner to the pail, as well as sealing the spout to the pail. There is small hole in the side of the pail which allows any air between the liner and bladder to be forced out. UN6HA1/Y1.8/100
