Steel Drums or Barrels- Open Head and Closed (Tight) Head
We stock steel drums in sizes from 5 to 55 gallons. Some customers refer to drums as barrels. Drums, or barrels, where the top comes completely off are referred to as open head drums. Normally the top is secured to the body of the drum with a bolt ring or a lever lock ring. The drum in the picture to the right has a bolt ring. Drums, or barrels, where the top cannot be removed are referred to as closed head or tight head drums. These tight head drums have bungs or fittings in the cover as they are meant for liquids. Some of our drums are lined and some are unlined. A brief description can be found under each drum. All the drums on this page have a UN designation.
5 Gallon Drums
Our JAC-10PH-KG-F4AJ 5 gallon steel drum has a screw cap and a spout that can be pulled up and pushed back down.
Our CSCP2-06-01 5 gallon steel drum has a 2″ Rieke plug and a 1 coat epoxy phenolic lining.
Our CSCP2-05-01Niles 5 gallon steel drum has one 2″ plug (bung) and one 3/4″ plug. It is unlined with a rust inhibitor.
Our CSCP2-07-01niles 5 gallon steel drum has one 2″ plug and one 3/4″ plug. It has a 2 coat red phenolic lining. More detailed information is available in this article.
Our WSD5-17-01 15 gallon open head drum is unlined with a lever lock ring that secures the lid to the drum. More detailed information can be found on this page.
Our MFB5-11-01 15 gallon closed head (tight head) drum is unlined. It has one 2″ and one 3/4″ plug.
Our MFB5-14-01 30 gallon steel drum is unlined with a 2″ plug and a 3/4″ plug.

Our 5 gallon black steel unlined pail has a 2 1/8 inch screw cap and a spout. Some of our customers use this pail to transport hot oil, approximately 250 degrees F. The inner seal is included but is not attached to the pail. Once applied, the inner seal can be lifted off and the push/pull spout can be lifted up. Our blue tight head steel pail with a 2 coat red phenolic lining has one 2" steel plug and one 3/4" pipe thread steel plug. Red phenolic linings are commonly used when transporting or storing agricultural chemicals, flavors and fragrances, acids and organic solvents. This is an FDA compliant pail and can take hot product up to 350 degrees F maximum.
