Steel Drums or Barrels- Open Head and Closed (Tight) Head
We stock steel drums in sizes from 5 to 55 gallons. Some customers refer to drums as barrels. Drums, or barrels, where the top comes completely off are referred to as open head drums. Normally the top is secured to the body of the drum with a bolt ring or a lever lock ring. The drum in the picture to the right has a bolt ring. Drums, or barrels, where the top cannot be removed are referred to as closed head or tight head drums. These tight head drums have bungs or fittings in the cover as they are meant for liquids. Some of our drums are lined and some are unlined. A brief description can be found under each drum. All the drums on this page have a UN designation.
5 Gallon Drums

5 Gallon Black Steel Round 24 GA Item: SPC0005CS2U013 UN Rating: 1A1/Y1.8/100 Opening: Tight Head Pack: 36 Our 5 gallon black steel unlined pail has a 2 1/8 inch screw cap and a spout. Some of our customers use this pail to transport hot oil, approximately 250 degrees F. The inner seal is included but is not attached to the pail. Once applied, the inner seal can be lifted off and the push/pull spout can be lifted up. A funnel can then be placed in the opening for ease of pouring. UN1A1/Y1.8/240 |

This type of drum is commonly used for storage of grease or similar liquids. |
